About WASH
Wild About Stockton Heath was formed following a Parish Council Meeting on 18th March 2021 where a PC initiative brought together members of the community interested in protecting and improving the biodiversity of the village.
After the meeting, a group of eight (now nine) committed and diverse individuals met up over Zoom to form the new independent community group and agree on a way forward.
We are now firmly established with a constitution, official officers, a bank account, Facebook group and regular monthly meetings.
Our main aims are: To initiate and encourage projects which will protect, improve, and create a variety of habitats for plants, mini-beasts (invertebrates) and small animals. The outcome will be increased biodiversity within the Parish, to benefit the community and the wider area.
As well as initiating projects we hope that by connecting with and inspiring the local population and other community groups that those individuals and groups will come to WASH for help and advice to bring their own initiatives to fruition. WASH are also very keen to involve the young people of the village.
In the early days after the set up of the Facebook group, we focussed on promoting the group and growing our Facebook members by following several national campaigns whilst working in the background on our own projects.
